Optimize The Vizion completed its 2nd event of 2020 by attending the Kennesaw State Men’s and Women’s Basketball games on 2/29/20 at the Kennesaw State Convocation Center on Kennesaw State University’s campus. Let me first thank Tre Murrell, Director of MBB Operations for KSU Men’s Basketball. He secured our great seats for the game. He also allowed us to change our tickets to February 29th due to the snowfall that occurred in the area on February 8th, the original date for the event. Thanks to Tre and the entire Kennesaw State Athletic Department for welcoming OTV to this great event.
Our Vizionaries had a special day planned! They were able to see two Division 1 teams in action in the same outing. Kennesaw State Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams are in the Atlantic Sun Conference which is a Division 1 conference. The first game brought us the Men’s team as they took on NJIT Men’s team. The game started out well and the lead at halftime was close. During the 1st half of the game, two of our Vizionaries, Lael Gray and Justin Williams participated in a free throw contest. Although it was a tight, Lael won by one shot and received a gift card and shirt from Bojangles. During halftime, we were treated to a chance for our Vizionaries to meet and speak to Kennesaw State Athletic Director Milton Overton. Milton provided some great advice for the Vizionaries and also hosted us to eat at the snack bar. The men were not able to secure the “W” this time but it was still a great game!
The second game allowed us to witness the KSU women’s team go up against NJIT’s Women’s team. The KSU women’s team came out blazing with an early 22-3 lead. We could only watch the game until halftime due to time constraints but KSU had a commanding lead when we departed. We later found out that they were able to secure the victory!
At half time of the Women’s game, we headed to Chick Fil A, where we enjoyed a complementary meal provided by the Town Lake location. Each Vizionary had their choice of nuggets or sandwich meal. After eating, each Vizionary was asked to write in their journals and share three takeaways from today’s event. After meals and journals were completed, we all headed to our drop off location at the Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RCIE) for parent pick. What a wonderful day and 15th event for Vizionaries. Our next event is scheduled in March. Details will be forthcoming.
Thanks,
Emmanuel Glaze, CEO and Founder
